La scintilla con gli sci scocca all'età di quattro anni. L'adolescenza è segnata da una partenza dedicata al fondo ma, una volta sperimentato il poligono, vira gli sforzi sul biathlon, ritenendolo più spettacolare ed avvincente. Terzo sia a Sochi 2014 sia a Pyeongchang 2018 insieme alla staffetta mista azzurra, nel 2011 vince il bronzo nella mass start iridata di Khanty Mansiysk (14 anni dopo tramutato in argento per via della squalifica per doping del russo Sergej Ustjugov). Nella sua bacheca possiede tre medaglie mondiali a squadre e due successi individuali nelle sprint di Coppa del Mondo. Quando non è impegnato sulle piste ha come hobby quelli del parapendio (anche in tandem) e la corsa in montagna. Sono i diversivi che gli permettono di ricaricarsi a contatto con la natura e alimentare le speranze di mettere la firma su altri capolavori a cinque cerchi.
