Biography

Ice is in the family chromosomes. Daughter of speed skater Roberto Sighel—founder of a tradition that has made Italy proud with five world medals, including gold in Calgary 1992—and sister of Pietro, the new male leader of Italian short track, she too (like her younger brother) specialised in the short track. She first experienced the magic of the Olympic Games at the inaugural Youth Olympic edition in Innsbruck 2012, finishing fifth in the 1,000 m.

Her cabinet includes three world medals and seven European medals, including gold in the 3,000 m relay at Dresden 2025. Always very close to her family, cooking is another of her passions—her speciality is Sachertorte. She loves the sea and diving among its treasures, and she is a 360-degree sportswoman: from cycling to skiing, roller skating and climbing. Now she is aiming for the big hit: Milano Cortina is waiting.
