Freestyle skiing now features 15 Olympic events. Moguls made their official debut at Albertville 1992, followed by aerials at Lillehammer 1994, ski cross at Vancouver 2010, slopestyle and halfpipe at Sochi 2014, and most recently, big air and mixed team aerials at Beijing 2022. Milano Cortina 2026 will also see the debut of dual moguls, a new addition to the Olympic programme.
Competitions will be hosted across two venues in the Valtellina resort of Livigno: the Snow Park and the Aerials & Moguls Park.
Italy is aiming for its first ever Olympic medal in freestyle skiing, buoyed by a series of strong results in the most recent Olympic cycle. Leading the charge is Simone Deromedis, who claimed the world title in ski cross at Bakuriani 2023. Also making waves are siblings Miro and Flora Tabanelli, who have both earned World Cup podiums in big air. Flora is also the reigning Youth Olympic champion in both big air and slopestyle, after taking double gold at the Gangwon 2024 Games in South Korea.
