Located in Lago di Tesero, in the heart of Val di Fiemme, the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium will host the cross-country skiing and Nordic combined events during Milano Cortina 2026. Positioned at an altitude of 830 metres, the venue offers 19 kilometres of ski trails, tailored for both classical and skating styles.

Inaugurated in 1990, the stadium was born from an initiative launched in the mid-1980s, when Val di Fiemme put forward its candidacy to host the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, which it successfully staged in 1991. Ahead of the 2013 edition, the venue was renovated between 2010 and 2012, having already hosted the Championships in 2003. For the 2026 Winter Games, it has once again undergone extensive modernisation, including the redesign of new loops for both classical and freestyle disciplines.

Over the years, the venue has become a fixture in top-level Nordic sport. Since 2007, it has served as the final stage of the Tour de Ski, the prestigious multi-day cross-country race held annually from late December to early January. It is also a key section of the Marcialonga, one of the world’s most iconic ski marathons, which has passed through the venue since its inaugural edition in 1971. In 2013, the stadium hosted the biathlon, cross-country skiing, and Nordic combined events of the Winter Universiade.

Val di Fiemme has produced some of Italy’s greatest cross-country skiers. Among them is Giorgio Vanzetta, Olympic gold medallist in the men’s relay at Lillehammer 1994 and a four-time Olympic medallist overall. Cristian Zorzi, gold medallist in the relay at Turin 2006, also earned a silver and a bronze. Franco Nones made history as Italy’s first Olympic cross-country skiing champion with his 30 km gold at Grenoble 1968. The valley also produced Bice Vanzetta, who won two Olympic bronzes in the women’s relay, and Antonella Confortola, part of the bronze-winning team at Torino 2006.
